Biotechnology company Allos Therapeutics Inc. said Monday its fourth-quarter loss widened on higher costs associated with sales of the cancer drug Folotyn.
With the acquisition, chemicals will account for 35% of Merck’s revenues and the company will be positioned for expansion in biotechnology. Merck agreed to buy Millipore Corp., a supplier of drug-development equipment for biotechnology companies, for about $6 billion in cash, beating a rival offer from Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.
